Bristol Regional Medical Center has been in service to its community for nearly eight decades, operating from its current state-of-the-art facility since 1994. Bristol Regional is a founding member of the Wellmont Health System, merging with Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport in 1996 to create the region's premier health system.
The tertiary referral center offers the region's only CyberKnife Stereotactic Radiosurgery System at the J.D. and Lorraine Nicewonder Cancer Center, and the hospital is home to Tennessee's only Level II trauma center. Bristol Regional is also the region's leader in off-pump, or "beating-heart" bypass surgery, an innovative cardiac surgery technique that leads to shorter hospital stays and better outcomes.
Bristol Regional's experienced medical staff is composed of more than 200 physicians representing dozens of specialties and sub-specialties. From critical care physicians manning the hospital's recently-expanded intensive care units to neurologists operating the region's first certified stroke center, the Bristol Regional medical staff stands ready to meet any medical need.
The hospital is also working to bring medical services and expertise closer to its patients. Digital mammography is now offered to area women at Volunteer Parkway Imaging Center in Bristol Tennessee, and primary care services are now offered by the family doctors at Medical Associates at Exit 7 in Bristol Virginia. And Bristol Regional is proud to partner with HealthSouth to offer the Rehabilitation Hospital of Southwest Virginia, opening in summer of 2010 in Bristol Virginia. |
